Vintage millinery is an all-encompassing word that includes hats, veiling, flowers, feather and ribbon ... anything that is used to decorate a hat.
I have a certain fondness for it. Not necessarily due to its age (though it does have a charming nostaligia). There is just something about the faded, imperfect look of old flowers that appeals to me.
Back in the 40s and 50s, most millinery flowers (and all artificial flowers) were made with cottony material. The texture has this soft quality that is lost on today's "silk" (polyester) blends.
I love using these flowers in my creations --- they are high quality .. and, most importantly, UNIQUE! :)
